Peter Drucker was born on November 19, 1909 in the small town of Kaasgrabengasse in Dobling, a district of Vienna.
He was the eldest child of a high level civil servant Adolph Bertram Drucker and a medically erudite Caroline Bond Drucker; both of whom were very active in Vienna's social scene and would regularly invite the high minded, intellectual community of Austria to participate in "soirees" at their home.
Young Peter Drucker and his brother were allowed to attend these gatherings and it was at these social events that he would meet some lasting intellectual influences including political economist Joseph Schumpeter who would influence Drucker long into the future.
