After graduating High School, Drucker moved out of Austria in 1927 in order to apprentice at a cotton export-import firm. However, the manager of the new apprentices was apathetic towards them and oftentimes neglected their training which meant that Drucker did not learn much. But it did give him time to pursue a lot of literature in several different languages that would inspire him in the future. It was at this time that he discovered Danish Philosopher Kierkegaard who would have a lasting impact on the way Drucker viewed management.
After his lackluster apprenticeship, Drucker went to work at the Frankfurter General-Anzeiger which was a daily newspaper where Drucker would quickly ascend to become one of the three editors of the paper. During that time Drucker had to cover a broad variety of topics outside of his position's specialization which gave him a good look into the many aspects of society.
